Ministry CDs

Hi everyone....Gare sent out the CDs on Wednesday. He sent each of the brothers a Set of the CDs and Coogs was mailed to Max's address along with a couple of extra sets in case Juan, John or anyone else might want a set. If more are needed please just let us know. We love and miss you all very much. It's hard to be so far away. . . . . . Mom

Prayer Requests

Hey everybody I have some prayer requests for you.

We have a family in our church who is in need. The father/husband passed away this past Tuesday. There are 4 children and the Mother and they currently live in a motel. The rates are about to go up in March and I dont think she can make the rent payment. This is a hard time as we all know even without the added stress of where you are going to live or how you are going to feed 4 children. Please keep them in your prayers. Our church is helping and we want to do what we can also. I am not sure what that is yet, but at least we can lift them up in prayer.

Also remember our brother Coogan as Jennifer and him are working through some issues this next week.

I love you all and keep you all in prayer these are just some added requests.

A Mishler E-mail Address?

I was doing some routine maintenance on the website and found that I can create as many e-mail addresses with "themishlers.com" as I want.  So far I've only created one which is max@themishlers.com but feel free to add that to your address book as an alternate e-mail address for me.  I like it because it's so easy for people to remember and it's kinda cool to have our name as the whole e-mail address.  If any of you would also like a "themishlers.com" e-mail address let me know and I'll set it up for you!

Crazy and Kinda Cool Dream

Hey everybody.

The last few days have been really hard for some strange reason. I have really been missing Dad. I don't know why. I had a dream last night that has put me to peace. I still am missing him but I feel better. In the dream Dad had passed, but then he came back to visit. He asked me to gather all the brothers. And some how I did just that within no time we were all together with him. He was laughing and hugging us he just had this real big goofy smile the whole time. We all spent a day together and at the end of the day he asked me to go get him a bird. From what I can remember it was a finch he asked for. So I then went and got the bird for him. When I gave him the bird he instantly released it. It did not fly away but flew straight above us and stayed high above us all. He smiled real big and passed away for the second time. The bird stayed their. I woke up then and I could tell that I had been crying for sometime, but I did not feel sad. This dream was much more vivid when I first woke. I tried to remember as much as possible.

Anyway thought I would share my dream with you guys.

I love you all.
Pete

Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone! Haven't posted in a bit so here I be.
Max,I am jealous! I wasnt to go see that U23D and plain forgot about it!I will be seeing a Dodger game though....last season in Florida for Spring Training.Bummer.Chris and I are getting tired of living in the dark ages when it comes to our Macs (an old G3,and old i-Mac,a real old skool Macintosh Plus, and dead Macs I just am too attached to!,Oh,and a Dell laptop with a broken screen...) so we are gonna get a new 17" MacBook Pro.Wow.I will finally be in the Gig rather than meg processor speed family. Is it all they say it is? LOL
Jacob...the Mini-Narnia sounds very cool.Wish I was closer to come check it out.
It's flippin' cold here today!

"Oh sure, come to Florida, the weather's nice and the sun shines all year 'round! You can play golf in November and go to the beach in January and not have to worry 'bout losin' your twigs 'n berries!"

Now read that back in the same voice that Eric Idle (from Monty Python's Flying Circus) uses when he would dress in drag and speak in an old English lady's voice while sipping a nice cup 'o tea and enjoying a hot buttered scone.

Funny, ain't it?

Love you guys!

Hasta Rasta and chill on the pasta....

My Yard

WOW!

What a lot of work it is. I forgot now that I've been behind a desk for so long. The first day was brutal and we did not get a lot done. But the second day we kicked butt and took names. The Pergola posts are set and this weekend it should be completed. The fence posts are set and I am putting the panels in each evening when I get home from work it should also be done this weekend. I could not have done it without Jason Siel he was a huge help. Anyway I will talk to ya soon. I will send pics when it is finished.

U2 3D!

Patty and I went with Paul and Wendy to see U2 3D last night and it was awesome!  U2 is one of those bands that I've wanted to see live my whole life but as I (and the band) get older the likelihood is diminishing rapidly.  The closest I've come was in '87 when they played the LA Coliseum for 3 nights.  They sold out in under an hour but the ticket agent did offer me bleacher seats outside the stadium with a big screen TV for 50 bucks. Yeah right!   So, I went to this cinematic experience with high expectations from what I had previously read and heard.  Boy, they sure didn't disappoint!  In some ways I can only imagine that this is almost better than live since you're getting a good view the entire time and although you see the thousands of sweaty, excited fans sitting on each others shoulders (and in 3D you can almost smell the sweat!) they're never blocking your view.  Plus, they mix some of the coolest visuals and use this medium to its maximum potential.  I'm sure there was some additional cleanup of the sound in the studio at a later time but man, they've never sounded better in my book.  Bono might not go for every high note like he used to but his high energy makes up for anything that might be lacking there.  Just incredible and a "must see" if you're any kind of U2 fan!  In fact, I dare say you would enjoy it even if you're not a fan...  I may see it again before it's gone!

Recorded ministries from 1982

Hi Family, We found the cassette tapes from 1982 that I thought I had preserved. One is from a ministry that your dad and I had done at the Walnut-Whitney Hospital in Sacramento and the other is from an Assembly Of God church in Willits, CA. Sunday evening service. That church was pastored at that time by our very first pastor, Ron and Sue Penrose. It's exciting to have these tapes though hard to listen to right now. Gary has spent several days running these tapes through programs he has on the downstairs computer to "clean" them up from the old tape noise. They've come out pretty good. He's going to be putting these on CDs as soon as his order for new CDs comes in. He figures it shouldn't be more than about a week to a week and a half. Im hoping that these ministries would be something that would be a blessing to you but if at this time it wouldn't that's ok too. Please let me know if you would rather wait on having these and I won't send them until you say so. Also....if anybody else who loved your dad would like to have copies of these ministries please just let me know and give me your address and I'll send them to you too. I love you guys and hope your weekend was good. It's snowing here a lot this winter. I'll be glad to see Spring. . . . . Mom

State dance

I'm helping josh swaim with the state dance competition. The view in
this photo is from just behind the camera/ tripod I was running. I had
to be there at 7:00 am after finishing poker at around 3:00am. Phew
I'm pooped! But, I WON POKER!

Saturday morning

Just a "hi" to all my children. It's finally stopped snowing at least for now. I really don't have much to say. Just wanted to check in. I love this site Max. Thanks for setting this up for us all.
I hope you all have a great weekend. I bet your yard is going to come out great Petey and Tange. I was remembering that you have a gift in this department. Well...all my love to you, Mom

b-day, snowboarding, and Narnia...

Hey everyone, sorry I've been away. It's been a crazy week!
Pete, happy belated birthday! I hope it was a good one. How's the project coming along? (I can't wait to do the irrigation with you - but we have to wait until the ground is completely frozen! We'll have Swaim and Dale Henson help too!)

The trip to the mountains was a success, but over too quickly of course. It was Michelle and I and two of our friends. Not much new snow, but the weather wasn't bad. I hope to get one more trip in this season!

I've just started work on the lighting and sound design for Narnia, a Short Musical Version. That's the official title, although it's based solely on LWW. It's part of our children's theatre program. We do 3 or 4 kids' shows every year that run in rep with the mainstage show. It's going to be a lot of fun designing lights for this one! I have 13 moving lights in the air right now for ASU, plenty to come up with some Narnian Deep Magic effects! Of course it was a little heart-breaking to read the (edited) script and realize how much had to be cut to fit into a one-hour show. But still, I'm glad to be able to work on it. I'll try to get some good pics of the final product and post them here.

I love and miss you all! Talk to you soon,

A Funny Story....

So yesterday i'm sitting in walmart getting my haircut when my phone rings. It's Katey and she says "hey were making chili and we want to know if you want to come over for dinner". I was like uh....sure, but it will take me awhile to get there. She was trying to call someone from their church and had called me by mistake.
But Katey? for the record i would love to come over and have dinner with you guys :)

I love this song!

The song is called "tomorrow on the runway" It's by The Innocence Mission.
When i hear it I think about dad. The chorus goes.. Did you leave the darkness without me You're always miles ahead and your standing in tomorrow on the runway.
Very pretty song..check it out when you get a chance.

Poker tonight!

Pete and I are playing in a live game tonight.  Haven't really played live since everyone was here together last month.  Should be fun!  Shuffle up and deal!

Happy B-day Pete

Pete,
Hope you have a great birthday. I love and appreciate you very much!!!!

Happy Birthday Petey

Gary said he wished he could be there to help you with your yard projects. I could do something too. Lemonade or sweet tea maybe? I'm praying that God will work this out in the future. Nothing's impossible with Him. I'd love to cook for you guys again. At least once in awhile. And I could babysit. I can't even imagine....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY son. Have a great day and give our love and hugs to Sadie and Tange.......Mom and Gary

Happy Birthday Pete!

Hey Pete!  I know you're busy today with your yard but I hope you have a great birthday and maybe we can go out and do something tonight!  I was thinking of the time in Hawaii when Mom and Dad got you your first bicycle with training wheels.  It was a miniature BMX Mongoose.  Coog and I (being the deviant older bros.LOL) decided it was time for you to take the training wheels off and sent you down a BIG hill without them.  If my memory serves me correct, you hardly even crashed and pretty much just immediately learned how to ride your bike.  I guess that was a good indicator as to your talent for learning pretty much anything in this life!  Just take the training wheels off and go for it and yeah you might crash a little at the bottom of the hill but ultimately you're just fine!

 Love you brother!!!

Mom and Gary

I got my birthday card thank you so much it was very sweet. I love you both.

Missed a couple days...

Hey everyone,

My goal was to post to the blog at least once a day and unfortunately, I missed a couple of days.  Patty hurt her back on Sunday so I've been pretty busy helping her out with the kids and house.  Thanks for the links to that player Juan, I'll definitely check it out!  Also, Pete I'll help you out as much as possible this weekend with your yard stuff!  I've been going to Physical Therapy 3 times a week to strengthen my neck and shoulders so I've been pretty sore.  I'm sure I could do something to help even if I'm just "waterboy"... LOL  Lord knows you've helped me out countless times!  Anyway, hope everyone is having a good start to their week!

Techie geek stuff for Max :)

Hey there guys n gals!
Hope you are all having a good week so far. My weekend was long yet un-eventful.
Hey Max,I came across this really cool media player that I downloaded for my Linux machine and then found out that it's also available for the Mac (and Windoze,if ya have too!). It's called Songbird and it has an integrated web-browser that has a search engine for mp3s,videos,etc.It's kind of like having i-Tunes and Firefox rolled into one. It's still in beta (v .04 is the current build) but it looks like it's gonna be a kicking media player. It supports skins (called "Feathers") and all kinds of plug ins. Here's the link:

Get Songbird

I didn't mean to single anyone out,but I figured Max is the "tech-head-geek supremo" LOL!By all means, everyone check this out and let me know what ya think.
Take care!

Crossroads ministry tonight

Hi everyone....tonight we go to minister to the poor, unwashed (sounds a little like me lately..lol) and I love it (not the unwashed part). Jay and Nean do you remember when Mike Madigan started this ministry downstairs at the Memorial building? In fact....Petey...this might have been happening when you came for several months back in the mid 90's. Mike took his life about 6 years ago when he was fighting cancer and his wife, Nancy, went to be with him about a year after that also from cancer. She had the sweetest spirit and worked at Susanville Supermarket with Matt. Anyway....that ministry has grown so much. They have their own building now and 2 houses for women and 3 houses for men. God's really blessed what Mikey started. We don't have to lug a sound system anymore either. Sweet......eh? Well.....I wish we could all play music together. Nean...I haven't been able to listen to your new song. For some reason...I can't get it to work. I'll get Gary working on it later today. I love you all....just wanted to talk to you for a minute. This is the greatest....Max. I love popping in like this. Talk to you guys later......Mom

Tennis Anyone?

I'm playing tennis today with Gary Brown after playing last weekend with Martha Brown.  I have to say it's been an unexpected joyous return to the courts!  Of course I'm completely rusty (especially that stinkin backhand) but I was amazed how quickly I fell into my strokes.  It doesn't hurt that the Brown's were gracious enough to supply me with some updated equipment...  Thanks Gary and Martha for helping this aging wannebe get his game back on!

finally open

I've survived another tech-week. And it was a doosie (sp?)! Leaving the theatre at 4 and 5 am, then back at 11. But we opened the new show last night and it seemed to get a great response, I think it'll be a hit. So my schedule returns to somewhat normal again now. Which is good because I was just about out of clean clothes and dishes!
Snowboarding trip Monday! Can't wait. Thanks for all the B-day wishes from all y'all! Mom, I got the card, thank you. (And the book. Haven't been able to get to it, but it's at the top of the list!)
I'm hoping to get back to the beach some time this summer. Nean, we should coordinate our trips.
Bye for now, talk to you all soon.

Simpsonizing Myself

After getting Juan's tip about how he made the cool "Simpson" cartoon of himself, I tried doing one of me. I don't think it came out quite how I expected which goes to show you that Juan is much more like a cartoon than myself... HaHa... J/K Here it is anyway....

Cool Song By Nino!

Hey everyone!

Happy Valentines Day to you all!  Nino e-mailed me a song this morning that he just wrote and recorded.  I love it!  You'll find the link for it on the "Nino and Katey" page...  Hope you all have a great day!  Love to you all!

Happy Birthday my lil' homies!

Man...we all gettin' older! Jay n' Pedro,I love you guys!
This is a cool idea Max....glad ya thought of it.I am used to Blogger so this is very cool indeed.BTW, I am using that laptop I told ya about running PCLinuxOS...sweet! Got my geek on!
Pete,I had a dream about Pops too couple of weeks ago.Yep,smilin'! I think about him all the time.

Neen Beneen, your studio comin' along? Send me a track! I just quit my online project to devote more time to my own music and to Lindy's project. Also, after dad passed, some things seemed a bit trivial and I had to re-asses where I was spiritually and musically. Had to trim the fat.

I have been prayin for all of you, both Chris and I have. I miss you all very much and can't wait to have a get together, raise a glass to Pops, and just revel in the joy of brotherhood and friendship.
Love

La Spictra

Happy Birthday Loafie!!!!

Have fun and be safe Jay. Wish I could be there to spend it with you :)
Love you!!!!!

Updating the Site

Hey ya'll,

I've been trying to update the site a little bit every day so keep visiting and looking for new stuff. Today I added a "Kayleigh and Max" page under the "Max and Patty" page and also a "Juan" page under the "extended family" page. You can only view these sub-page links by going to the page they're filed under. I felt like I needed to put all future pages under their appropriate headers so that the main Mishler page doesn't get too "filled up" and hard to navigate. It's definitely all still a big learning curve for me! Keep the suggestions coming and remember to hit the blog as often as possible! It's sooo cool to get on there at random times of the day and see the new posts!

Books and Movies coming your way

Hi Family, Gary just sent out some books and movies that we wanted you to have. The movie is "Facing The Giants" a movie made by a church down south somewhere. It's made with just one camera and amateur actors. The soundtrack was done by their music director Mark Willard. The last song as the credits roll is one he wrote. It's awesome and we're doing it in worship as well as the "Voice Of Truth" by Casting Crowns....the song playing as the credits first start rolling. Anyway it's one of the best christian movies I've ever seen and I hope it blesses you all. Now for the book...this book is one that your dad and I first read many, many years ago. It really blessed us and I've given so many of them away over the years I couldn't count the number. I know he loved it too and now he's there seeing what heaven really is like. It was written by a lady over a hundred years ago who had a death experience and a dream of heaven. She admits that it's not necessarily what heaven will be like but it gives us something to think about and hope for. For those of you who may read this but didn't get a book....it's called "My Dream Of Heaven" or actually the original name was "Intramuros" by Rebecca Ruta Springer. It was reprinted a couple of years ago and now is a hardback. The original was a soft cover small yellow book. I truly hope this blesses you all. Amazon would only sell us 3 copies of the movie for some reason so Gare sent those 3 copies to Coog, Max and Pete (going by age) and he's buying 3 from WalMart and will be putting them in the mail today for Nean and Jay. I wanted you to know because you may already have received something and are wondering why. It's just an "I love you" from us to you. Have a great day, Jay, if possible. Talk to you'all soon. Love, Mom

Happy Birthday Old Man!

Hey baby brother! I know you're in changeover hell but hope you manage to still have a good Birthday! Love you man!

Happy Birthady Jay

It's 8:20 a.m. and I am getting my work day started. Just wanted to tell you happy birthday. I will call you later also. Love ya much!

Sick Baby

Little Bubbie got up at 4:00 am this morning crying and I literally held that boy for almost 12 hrs straight... No fever, no sign of anything irritating his skin, so it must be his teeth. I'm tired but I'll hold him for another 12 hrs if it'll make him feel better.

Hello fellow MisChlers

I'm sick of people spelling our name with a stupid C!!
Alright,..........I'm better now.  I needed to get that off my chest.  My home studio is coming together nicely.  Max will post my latest original song, recorded last night, sometime tomorrow.  That reminds me,.........if anyone has any poetry/lyrics/song-ideas that you don't mind sharing please send them my way and I will try to put music to it!  Anyway, I miss you all!
Nean

It's February...Happy Birthday Jaybird and Petey

Hi Family, I'm just sending your card this morning, Jay so hope it's there by Wednesday. It's Monday so I'm tired from yesterday but there's nothing like worship. I hope I don't have to quit too soon. I've been thinking so much about when you both were born. I used to be able to talk to your dad about those days and I just want you guys to know I'm missing him too. Those "voices" in our head tell me I shouldn't say that but it's true. Why does everything bring up guilt? It won't stop 'til heaven I think. Anyway...this is great that we can talk to each other a lot.
Thanks Max for setting this up. I hope you're all surrounded by God's peace as you go through the process of grief. We're praying for you all the time. We've been going through a lot of "stuff" with people here playing games and when big things happen.....it puts those other things in perspective. I just ignore the silly things going on here. Jay....it's been 31 years. Seems like yesterday. It's strange with you too Pete. 34 years. It was snowing then too. A lot stranger though to have snow in Lake County. I remember your grandma Jean standing outside in the snow. Well....here I am rambling on and on. Sorry. I love you all very much. I'll be back soon.

He's holdin on for dear life!

There's nothing better in life than seeing your kids happy! The Zoo is great place for that...

A thought......

Hey everyone,
This evening when i was driving home from taking Caleb home (it was just us 2 today ) I was thinking about dad and just missing him. I was listening to the choir and the song "a million years" was playing. I started thinking about growing up and how my 39 years seems like such a long time. Imagine a million years!!!! especially with no pain, health problems,or bad times. What a awesome thought huh? Of coure i totally miss him, but not so much here...I miss him up there. I cannot wait!!!! One day all of us will be there playing, loving, and worshipping together!!!!
A million years and more.......

Blogging while working

Proving it can be done

My first Blog EVER!!!!

Hi Family! I just want you all to know that I so enjoyed seeing all of you...wish it could of been under very different circumstances. Can't believe everything that's transpired so far since then...seems like Pop's been gone for such a long time now even though I know its only been 3 weeks. I really miss him. He was such a part of our daily life. I still hollar at him for being so messy around the house...but then I realize it's just MY mess. Darn! I'd give anything to clean up after him just one more time! I really took pleasure in doing things for him.

If we had a "Mishler Compound"...it would be so cool...I could take care of all of you! I hope that I didn't go overboard w/ Katey & Nean while ya'll were here. I truly just like to make you guys feel like this is your house too. Hopefully ya'll didn't feel like my O.C.D. was in high gear! You guys just will never know how much I wish we could hang out all the time. Katey...you really inspire me. I tell people at work about my "sista" in Knoxville. You always make me feel good about myself and I really feel like I can be myself cooky self around you...

Well...it's 7:00 p.m. - TIME FOR BABIES BEDTIME! (They've been driving me crazy while I've been typing....so now for some ME time).

Nitey Nite Family! May God Bless you all.
Max, the site is great! Nice work. Except, I linked to all the pages in reverse order and when I got to Pops' page at the end I almost balled. Such a great pic. But I'm good now. I've gotten it together. Still haven't been able to watch the memorial. But soon...
Today I watched the designer run of our incoming show, All Shook Up. (Not an Elvis tribute show, but all the songs were Elvis hits). It's very good. We have a strong cast of singers and it's hysterical. Should be a fun run. Midlife the Crisis Musical closes tomorrow night. Then changeover and tech week (aka hell-week). So if I don't make an appearance for several days, you'll know why.
Sadly, my birthday is right at the end of that madness. That night will be our preview actually. But we're celebrating the following week. Two days of snowboarding in the Poconos! Can't wait. Hopefully we'll still have snow by then. Global warming and all, you never know these days...
Ok, I'm out.
BARACK the vote!

Anything better in life?

Is there anything better than being 1 and enjoying a Popsicle? The
only thing I can think of better is seeing the joy from a Daddy's
perspective.

A test

Posted directly from iPhone! Now I can blog 24/7! Yeah, I'm
addicted! Haha

Keep em coming!

Glad to see that Coog, Jay, and Nean all posted today! Makes me feel close to you guys which is really the point of all this. It would be really cool if we made this a daily habit or at least every few days. Even a couple of sentences about your day or sharing a scripture or new song you heard would be awesome. I love you guys!!!!

What up brothers

Max! Good Job!  I like the website.  I'm not too sure if displaying my favorite childhood T.V. shows is exactly a joke....................but it's still good.  Katey and I are planing a trip to the beach this summer to see everyone so let us know if anyone is going to be out of town at any point.  Anyway, I think I stink at blogging..........................uhhhhhhhhh..................I love yall!

Coogs turn....

Hey guys, Thought i would check this out and i must say...Max, you did a great job putting this together!! It should be interesting to see how this progresses... Pop wouldnt know how any of this worked (lol), but he would have loved this website! Good Job

The Zoo

We decided to take the kids to the Zoo in Columbia this Sunday which should be fun.  Patty's sister Pam and her 2 kids are also joining us.  My favorite part will be riding in a car with 4 children for 6 hours....  Joy Joy  :-)

I wanted to welcome Gary and Mom, Jacob, and Katey as contributors to the blog.  Although Jay's the only one (besides myself of course) to make a post, I do see the other names listed.  When you view the blog in blogger you can see who's a contributor in the sidebar of the blog.  Unfortunately, when you view the blog from www.themishlers.com you don't see that.  I love how viewing the blog on my website keeps the formatting of the mishler website.  Anyway, this one of those random blog posts that blogs are famous for.

Jay's first time

This is great! I've never blogged before (unless you count LiveJournal back in the day - I guess that was sort of like an early blog). Anyway, glad to be on board. I hope everyone signs up. This is good. I'll be back when I have something more substantive to say.

This is very addicting!

Now that I've figured out how to link all of this up I'm quite addicted. It's 1:15 and I'm in desperate need of sleep but here I am messing around with this new blog. Ok, since this is my first "real" post here's my first "real" topic.

"There Will Be Blood"

Patty and I went and saw this on Monday night and was interesting to say the least. Paul Thomas Anderson has made quite a departure from the filmmaking of "Magnolia" and "Boogie Night's". Those were basically character actor ensemble pieces that also wrapped itself in a tight bundle by the end. Don't get wrong. The acting in "Blood" is first rate (I'd say Daniel Day Lewis is up for an Oscar for sure) but you never get the feeling of cohesiveness that Anderson is so well known for. I'm still stewing on this one for sure but I'd definitely say it was a disturbing piece of work and unconventional filmmaking to say the least. So, my mini-review is positive but beware if you're; squeamish, sleepy, or looking for Lifetime: Televison for Women. Haha

This entry was created in blogger... testing 1,2,3,4 lol

My first Post

I'm trying out this new feature of my web authoring software that links my Google blogger account directly with my website. I'm also trying to allow multiple authors so all the Mishler clan will be able to contribute to this blog. So, if you're a Mishler contribute and let's see if it works!
