I'm FREE!!!!

Hi Family!

Apologies for not writing more....I don't feel very articulate with this type of thing...or maybe I'm just shy. Not sure... I was going to tell everyone about my good news and see that Max has already posted a little bit about what good news I've had lately.

Well a few years ago when my twin sister was having her babies she underwent testing to see if she had the Protein C & Protein S deficiency that I have. Seeing as how we share identical DNA...it stands to reason that she would of been afflicted w/ the same problem as me. Thankfully, her tests came back negative and her pregnancies were fine...but it didn't explain why I would have this problem and she didn't.

The doctors tried to explain this anomaly by saying that maybe Pam and I weren't identical at all! Perhaps we were fraternal twins. (Pam was upset by this b/c being identical was something that she felt identified us. (Plus Mama was quite certain that we were identical being that there was only ONE placenta when we were born...)

The test that are run to diagnose this condition are very costly so the doctors didn't feel that they had enough reason to re-run these tests.  Well... Mama was having some trouble and when she told her cardiologist about me they ran the same tests for her. They ran her tests TWICE and they were BOTH NEGATIVE! Her cardiologist suggested that I have these tests re-done.

The only way that I could of had the Protein C & S deficiency is to have inherited it from BOTH parents. Which means if Mama didn't have it...it stands to reason, unless I'm a freak of nature, that I should not have it either.  Side Note: Just to give you an idea of how rare this problem is...the odds of having one of the deficiencies is 1 in 20,000 people! The other deficiency is 1 in 300 people. What are the odds that I would have BOTH of these!

My doctor ordered that I re-test immediately. Well it came back POSITIVE. (again). The normal range was between 70 - 140...mine came back 1...yes, the number one. I was needless to say..very let down. Well, the doctor did some more detective work and discovered that being on coumadin while you take the test can skew the results. So with some risk...we decided to be off my meds for a week and re-test...again. SUCCESS!!!! I'm absolutely normal! What must of happened was originally, the hematologist (blood specialist...yeah right!) tested me WHILE I was on coumadin. After my pulmonary embolism I should of only been on coumadin for about 6 weeks...not the rest of my life!

This is such a blessing for me because this drug effects everything you do from the horrible bruises you get from the least little thing, risks of spontaneously hemmoraging, normal medicines I couldn't take, certain things I couldn't eat, healing slowly from injuries and enduring two pregnancies with daily injections in my tummy b/c taking the coumadin would of hurt my babies.

I feel like a "normal" person now...I guess as normal as I could be. ha ha. I guess that the life lesson is to just have things re-tested if they are "big deals" just to be certain. I just want ya'll to know how much Max has been through with me on all this....

I got sick on the last day of our honeymoon and he waited on me hand and foot...when I was pregnant (both times) he gave me my daily injections and put up with all my protesting (aka winning, crying and fighting). I think this whole thing in a strange way really made us stronger as a couple and I do thank God for that and him.

To God be all the Glory! I love you family.

Mady Getting Dizzy!

Tired

Hey folks!!!!

I hope everyone had an awesome Easter weekend. Katey and I decorated eggs with the girls Saturday night then watched "Enchanted". This is actually a pretty funny movie, either that or I need to get some friends over the age of 4, but really it's not bad.
Thanks Mom for the video!! Mady and Tobi are wearing it out. I should have it memorized in week or so (along with Monsters inc., Doodlebops, Dora,.....). It is such a blessing that you are putting in so much effort to be a part of their lives. And it's paying off too, they LOVE their NANA!!
Hope everyone is doing well. Keep us in your prayers over the next couple of weeks as I finish up school, pray that I might get to see my family once or twice!

Some Awesome News!

Hey Ya'll,

Hope everyone had a blessed Easter!  It was fun seeing the kids have so much fun.  I wanted to share some awesome news that we found out at the end of last week.  As you all know, Patty's been on blood thinners (coumadin) for the last 6 years ever since she had a pulmonary embolism coming back from our honeymoon.  Well, her current doctor has been really concerned for some time because it's such a dangerous drug and because she's his youngest patient on it.  He calls it "an old person's drug".  So, we finally had her retested and guess what?  All of her tests came back negative and she can stop taking coumadin!  I can't explain to you what this means to us and to Patty!  I'll let her post and tell you all what this means to her life.  In a nutshell, "freedom!"  Praise the Lord!  He's good...

He Is Risen!!!!

Hi Everyone....I'm so filled with love for the Lord today and just wanted to share a thought with you all. As we worship Him this weekend...remember that He created us for this reason. It's so overwhelming to me that He knows us so intimately and loves us just the way we are. We were created to bring Him glory and praise and as I worship Him with song I get so passionate it's hard to sing at all. I wish we could be together but I tried to be there a little bit with the video that Gary shot. It didn't come out very good but I hope the children enjoy it. I don't want them to forget who we are. Have a great weekend and know that you are all loved very much!! Not just by Him....I meant also by me and Gare. Talk to you again soon.........Mom

Sad day for movie lovers...

I just read that Oscar winning director Anthony Minghella died today of a hemorrhage following surgery.  He was 54.  For those who aren't familiar with his work he directed, "The Talented Mr. Ripley", "The English Patient", and "Cold Mountain".  All 3 are some of my favorite movies...  Here's a link to the article on his passing...   Article link

Stumbled Upon...

Have you guys ever used the "Stumble" plugin for Firefox? If you ever find yourself surfing the web randomly without purpose it's a great little plug-in. When you first download and signup it has you put in your interests and than when you hit the Stumble button on your browser toolbar it takes you to sites it thinks you might be interested in based on other "Stumbler's" votes. You also vote on sites you like so that'll suggest it to other people. Here's a link it suggested to me today of some pics that are both hilarious and freaky! Pics taken at just the right time.

Finally some down time!

Hey all!
Sorry I've been away so long. Wicked busy lately. (But I have been stopping by to read at least.)
I finally have a little time to breathe. Only a mat today and off tomorrow! The high school show is done! Now time for laundry and dishes... Maybe some reading and relaxing too.

I'll check in later!

Jay

A visit? perhaps....

Hello my lil' homies....

Chris and I are lookin' at an April visit to MB (2nd or 3rd weekend). Just a 3 or 4 day extended weekend. We need to "get away on holiday", as it were.
We want to get together with everyone for a lunch or dinner thing. The only thing we have planned as of now is a visit to the Victoria Diane's day spa.Yep,I did write "we". On our last visit Chris set me up with a lil' spa visit.Massage, face thingy, some Yanni and candles, and lively conversation with the spa specialist. The wax across the eye brows kinda sucked.Heck, no warning at all, just RIP and the pain which soon insued.

It's official,I am a "metro-sexual".LOL!

I hope that our trip goes as planned, which means we will be there in less than a month!Woohoo!

And now for something completly different...

Cool streaming radio site and web browser

Hello folks!
I found a very cool site that streams music according to your preferences.Go to
Pandora and type the name of an artist or song into their player search field and a "Radio Station" will begin to stream music by the artist/song you typed in.It usually starts by playing the specified search criteria and will then play similar artists/songs.Very cool!A great way to discover new music.Register and the site saves your "stations".

Now...the real cool deal.....

Download the Opera web browser. Opera is a very flexible and customisable web browser that supports widgets.Widgets are small apps that enable certain functionality like weather reports, calendars, your CPU info, etc. Install the Pandora widget (you can access the widgets page from the Widgets dropdown menu in the Opera browser). If you registered at Pandora, the widget will update to your profile and you can listen via the widget. You can even create more stations in the widget.Very cool indeed!

I use opera now exclusively and listen to Pandora anytime I am on the web.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Take care and I love you all!

<>< Juan

Gone Baby Gone

Patty and I watched Ben Affleck's directorial debut, "Gone Baby Gone" last night.  First the bad news...  The language in this movie is some of the worst I've heard in recent memory.  That being said, it does seem to fit the tone and setting of the movie.  It's set in Boston in what I would definitely think are the seedier parts.  It stars Ben's younger brother Casey Affleck and he's really starting to come into his own as an actor.  The story centers around the search for a missing 4 year old girl and if you have children you'll definitely get pulled right into the heart of this movie.  It had about a million twists and turns and the ending will leave you talking and it left me struggling with my own idea of right and wrong.  Anyway, I know this is about the worst review you could possibly read but I give it a thumbs up!  Just be aware of the EXTREME language...  Peace to my homies!!!  :)

Cool marriage proposals and other news...

Hey there folks!
I got to help out a friend the other day with his marriage proposal.
My chiropracter and friend Eric (he's in the stripped shirt) wanted to ask his girlfiend Cindy (she's the,er,girl...) to marry him at the Third day concert at the HOB. One of the openning acts,"Need to Breathe" is his girlfriends fav band. Eric asked if I would ask the band to "propse to her" for Eric.Well, I asked the band members and they were so stoked by it! We all met at the HOB and right before the last song of the set,"Need to Breathe" did the announcement.Needless to say,Cindy was floored! I looked over and Eric was on his knees as she realised what was happening. The crowd went nuts! The band met with them after the show and they took pics and video taped them for their Myspace page.

Well, that was my good deed for the year....

Just saying "hi"

Hi Gang,
It's Friday and tonight we'll be back leading worship and I'm so excited and happy about it. I've missed our spiritual family and corporate worship. There's something about worshipping with others that blesses you more than worshipping at home. I love to go into the basement and worship God by myself but with others .... I don't know....you probably know what I mean anyway. I love the new Mercy Me song "God With Us". It's so powerful. There's a lot of great worship music out there these days. Well......really ...I just meant to say hi. I hope everyone has a great weekend. I wish we could be there to help with your yard Petey. Here's hugs for everyone ....<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>........love, Mom

The Downward Spiral of Posting...

Sorry I've slacked off on how often I post here.  Not my intention at all.  I knew that when the "newness" started wearing off, the blog would slow down a little.  I haven't been able to work on the webpage because my computer was off to the shop for a while.  I'm still in the process of getting all of the "stuff" back in line.  It's been a busy week in our household but all is well...  Pray for Patty as she has pulled muscle in her neck and she's in a lot of pain right now.  A lesser person than myself would use this opportunity to make a joke using the phrase, "pain in my neck" somehow but I value my life more than that. LOL  Anyway, I hope you all are doing OK and please hit the blog once in while if you get the chance.  Even a line or two about your day is cool...  That mean's all you "Mishler Ladies" too!  It's been a little silent from that end with the exception of Mom.  Alright, I'm off the soapbox and off to work!  Peace, love, kisses, and all that other stuff!!!

Hey All

Just thought I would drop a line and see how everyone is. Mom and Gare I really appreciate the ministry cd's. My yard is about done still need a little help this Saturday. So Coog and Max maybe an hour Sat morning then we can grill out one day maybe Sunday. We will take pics and post.

Love you all,
Pete

Ministry CD's Came In!

Thanks Mom and Gary for all of your hard work in putting these together and sending them out.  As I listened to them today I was reminded of just how powerful a team my parents were back in those days!  It was haunting to listen to Dad talk to the elderly folks about how short this life is and how none of us are guaranteed to see tomorrow...  I really felt the presence of God as I laid back, relaxed, and was just transported to another era of my life.  I was instantly taken back and I love that I'll be able to put these CD's on for many years to come.  It made me feel close to Pop to hear him speak about his favorite subject, "Jesus".  It also made me weep from time to time but I think I needed that as well... Anyway, I don't want my words to take anything away from the experience but just wanted to express my thanks for sending these out.  I would love to put pieces of it on the website and will look into the best way to do that...  Hope everyone has a good weekend!
